Restless MantisThe Impulse Experiment
「If you thought of it, you want to try it tonight」
Anything that crosses your mind has to be tested before morning. Curiosity outruns restraint every time, which makes you the most dangerous inventor of the sixteen.
— 「Okay — I just had an idea.」

Three lines that probably land
Strength
No two of your nights are alike, so boredom is impossible around you.
Weakness
You put the freshness of your idea ahead of their actual consent.
What you haven't admitted
The thing you most want to try, you've still never said out loud.
The full read
1Your bedroom is a laboratory. Repeating last night bores you, so ideas never get to sit — you test them on the spot, with no warm-up. For the other person it's a running series of 'wait, right now?' moments, and that unpredictability is exactly why they can't look away.
If you could ask one thing of them
Don't back away — just try it once with me. If it's bad, we stop immediately.
2You don't take the scenic route. You want to try something new, but your entry into it is startlingly blunt. Explaining the plan, carefully checking that they're with you — your hands move before any of that. There's no malice in it at all. You just keep overtaking their readiness.
3And you get bored fast. A night that worked is already something you're trying to improve on. What they're still glowing about, you filed away days ago. Left unaddressed, they start to feel like a prototype being handled.

Read it through the four axes
Each of the four letters in the code is a lean on one axis. Here's how they come out for this type.
LControl · Lead
Whoever has the idea moves. The Mantis has ideas constantly, so it's inevitably always the one moving first. Before you've asked 'what do you want?', your hands are already busy.
QTempo · Quick
You can't let an idea sit. Try it tonight, see the result, think of the next one. Each experiment is short, and the switch between them is fast.
HRegister · Heat
It isn't theory that makes you try things; it's impulse. The curiosity of 'what happens if' rises at the same rate as your body heat. The line between interest and desire is thin.
XAdventure · Explore
No night happens twice. The idea of repeating tonight what worked last night simply doesn't occur to you.
Things this type tends to say
- 「Hey, can I try something?」
- 「We already did that yesterday.」
- 「Okay, I just thought of something.」
One letter away: how the neighbours differ
These are the types that match on three axes and flip on one. Read them and you'll see which axis actually decided your result.
Only the Control axis is flipped
SQHXCurious RaccoonThe Raccoon also suggests plenty, but leaves the decision to the other person. The Mantis suggests and executes in the same breath. The Raccoon stops at 'I want to try'; the Mantis arrives at 'I tried it'.
Only the Tempo axis is flipped
LEHXTeasing SpiderThe Spider also brings something new, but designs the order and timing before revealing it. The Mantis designs nothing. Ideas come out in the order they occurred, on the spot.
Only the Register axis is flipped
LQTXSudden BatThe Bat's ambush is gentle and never makes anyone tense. The Mantis's ambush has heat in it and makes the other person brace a little. Same suddenness, different pulse on the receiving end.
Only the Adventure axis is flipped
LQHCRavenous WolfThe Wolf runs one road that works, every time; the Mantis changes roads every time. Both hate arrangements, for opposite reasons. The Wolf has no use for them. The Mantis finds them boring.
Compatibility
Compatibility isn't a single score. "How much it burns tonight" and "whether it lasts" are measured separately, so you see not only your best match but the one that burns brightest and never lasts.
Best match
SQHXCurious RaccoonOverall 100
The Raccoon makes endless suggestions and refuses nothing, so it can take almost every one of the Mantis's ideas. And it runs at the same speed. Some nights the Raccoon has asked 'what happens if' before the Mantis has even said 'let me try'. Both burn and staying power hit their maximum here. Only two pairings in the sixteen do that.
Burns, but doesn't last
SEHXDrifting JellyfishOverall 82
The Jellyfish doesn't refuse new things. So for the first few nights the Mantis feels it's been given everything. But the Jellyfish's 'okay' is sometimes drift rather than consent, and the speed gap is wide. By the time the Mantis has moved on, the Jellyfish is still somewhere down there.

Frequently asked
- If I turn down a Restless Mantis's (LQHX) idea, will they sulk?
- No. They're used to being turned down. What hurts them is being recoiled from. Offer an alternative, 'not that, but this would work', and you'll just get the next suggestion. They aren't judging how you refuse. They're watching whether the conversation keeps going afterward.
- They're called fickle. Are they bored of me?
- Not of you. Of the same procedure. What LQHX keeps updating is the content of the night, not the person. But the person can't tell the difference, so 'I want to try this because it's you' needs to be said out loud.
- Which type is the worst fit for LQHX?
- The Watchful Owl (LETC). The Owl reads someone completely before moving and keeps the same approach going for a long time. The Mantis's 'no warning, different every time' makes all of that observation useless, and both of you end up exhausted.

Recommended edging game settings for this type
Opens the game with time, difficulty and tone already set to suit your type.
"Standard" (10 min, normal, lottery). A heat-driven type with little preamble gets the most out of a busy 10 minutes.
Tone "teasing". As someone who leads, being goaded by a female voice while you hold back hits hardest.
