Night 16 Types · Your night type

SETC

Moody CatOnly If I Let You

「A long night, but only for whoever you allow」

The hardest of the sixteen to handle. The quality of the night depends entirely on your mood, and whoever you allow gets a bottomless amount of time.

— 「…fine. Tonight's fine.」

Three lines

Three lines that probably land

  • Strength

The density of what you give to a chosen person is overwhelming.

  • Weakness

You never explain your moods, so they conclude it's their fault.

  • What you haven't admitted

You're the one who feels worst after saying no.

The read

The full read

1If you're not in the mood, nothing begins. Invited, atmosphere perfect, doesn't matter — if the switch inside hasn't flipped, your body won't move. That isn't selfishness. It's proof that you take nights seriously. What anyone could have, you don't call a night.

If you could ask one thing of them

I said no because of the day, not because of you. Please believe that much.

2Once you allow it, you last a long time. You enjoy being teased and doing the teasing; the negotiation is where you actually live. Anything obtained immediately holds no interest for you at all. How long they were kept waiting becomes the depth of the night.

3The difficulty is that you don't explain. Today yes, today no — the criteria exist only inside you. They start to feel permanently examined, and eventually stop asking at all. Adding one sentence of reason to your 'no' multiplies the lifespan of the relationship.

Four axes

Read it through the four axes

Each of the four letters in the code is a lean on one axis. Here's how they come out for this type.

  • SControl · Surrender

You don't lead. But whether anything starts is decided by the Cat. Invited, atmosphere perfect, doesn't matter: if the switch hasn't flipped, you don't move. You surrender, and still hold the key to the door.

  • ETempo · Endless

Once you allow it, it lasts until morning. You enjoy being teased and doing the teasing, and how long you were chased becomes the depth of the night.

  • TRegister · Tender

Mood and atmosphere are what light you. What anyone could have, you don't call a night. The density you give to the chosen one is overwhelming.

  • CAdventure · Classic

You don't ask for anything unusual. The game is where you live; the content being new holds no interest.

Things this type tends to say

  • 「I'm not in the mood tonight.」
  • 「...fine, I guess.」
  • 「Don't ask me why.」
Neighbours

One letter away: how the neighbours differ

These are the types that match on three axes and flip on one. Read them and you'll see which axis actually decided your result.

  • Only the Control axis is flipped

    LETCWatchful Owl

The Owl observes before moving and never says what it wants. The Cat decides by mood and never says why. Both long, classic and tender. The silence comes from observation in one case and mood in the other.

  • Only the Tempo axis is flipped

    SQTCClingy Fawn

The Fawn wants to be touching soon and can't enjoy the game. The game is the Cat's whole territory; anything obtained immediately holds no interest. The Fawn's night has a long second half; the Cat's has a long first half.

  • Only the Register axis is flipped

    SEHCCoiling Snake

The Snake isn't swayed by mood, and once it starts it won't let go. The Cat has days when the mood never arrives. Same length, different difficulty at the entrance.

  • Only the Adventure axis is flipped

    SETXDreaming Butterfly

The Butterfly wants a night where it can be someone else, and erases any sense of reality. The Cat stays itself and decides whether to allow it. The Butterfly's night is an illusion; the Cat's is a mood.

Compatibility

Compatibility

Compatibility isn't a single score. "How much it burns tonight" and "whether it lasts" are measured separately, so you see not only your best match but the one that burns brightest and never lasts.

Best match

LETCWatchful Owl

Overall 86

The Owl doesn't rush, so it can wait until the Cat's switch flips. The Cat doesn't explain, and the Owl reads it anyway. A Cat that enjoys the game and an Owl that enjoys watching. Modest burn, maximum staying power. The longest-lasting pairing of all.

Burns, but doesn't last

LEHXTeasing Spider

Overall 75

The Spider's waiting stretches out the Cat's 'being chased' in its finest form. So the Cat falls. But the Spider designs and the Cat runs on mood. On days things don't go to plan the Spider gets irritated, and a Cat that won't explain its mood breaks the design. It burns, and it doesn't last.

FAQ

Frequently asked

A Moody Cat (SETC) turned me down. Do they dislike me?
No. In their own words: 'I said no because of the day, not because of you.' SETC's criteria for 'no' exist only inside them, and the other person is never the reason. The one who feels worst after saying no is the Cat.
How do I flip the switch?
Don't push. Being pushed when they're not in the mood is the thing SETC is worst at. Set the atmosphere, don't rush, let them choose. The Cat allows only the person who can genuinely mean 'it's fine if not tonight'.
Which type is the worst fit for SETC?
The Curious Raccoon (SQHX). Wants to try it tonight, finds the same thing boring, sleepy once satisfied. The Raccoon's speed and appetite for novelty skip right over the time to choose that the Cat values most. Both surrender, and there's no starting point.
